Santiago for the Feast of Trumpets
We spent a long weekend in Santiago hosted by the lovely Nestor & Susy (si usted está leyendo esto, muchimas muuchimas gracias por todo!!) and mustn't leave out the dog Luna:
The first night, a couple of Susy & Nestor's friends came over - Varinia & Franco, who will be getting married in a couple of weeks. Varinia is Bolivian and cooked us her favorite Bolivian dish, it's called majadito.
A stew with veggies, rice and beef, topped with a fried egg, and fried plantains on the side. While she was cooking, I took notes:
Delicious!

The next night we went to a restaurant called Ambrosia, I promise this post won't be only about food....

The day before Trumpets, we explored some of the city with our hosts:
Cool old house
I know...more food...Nestor & Susy took us to a traditional Chilean restaurant for lunch. This is lomo a lo pobre: steak, some sautéed onions, fried egg, and papas fritas.
The restaurant: Del Beto
And here are some photos from the afternoon:
Sunday night, the start of Trumpets, Rene & Elizabeth invited us all over for dinner. We met them a few years ago at the Feast of Tabernacles in Mendoza, Argentina. Here we are after another delicious dinner:
Salmon, roasted vegetables, two different salads, potatoes....and followed by chocolate mousse for dessert - no more about food, I promise!
It was so nice being in Santiago for Sabbath and the Feast of Trumpets, and spending time with friends.
Susy & Nestor gave us this bottle of wine, which we shared our last night before leaving in the morning:
Viña Chocalan Reserva, Syrah, Valle del Maipo - Chile
Hope everyone had a great Feast of Trumpets as well.
