Maceió

First of all, I knoooow, it's been forever since I posted. But it has been a while since we've done anything exciting...and I figured it's better to wait to post something like this rather than "The Roscoes Decide to Go for a Walk" or "The Roscoes Want to Do Something Fun as Long as it is Close By, Doesn't Go Too Late, and Doesn't Require Getting Dressed Up For" (on the to do list for 2016: be more spontaneous!).

We set off for Maceió on Saturday evening, December 26th. Maceió, which means (roughly) spring, is in the state of Alagoas, which is in the north east coastal region of Brazil.

I'm not a cartographer, guys

Maceió is aptly named because there are many natural springs in the area, and lagoa means lake. The northeast is known for its hot temperature throughout the year, and it's the high point of summer now. But, Maceió, at least, along the water, has a strong cool wind that kept us feeling comfortable and kept the bugs away. Only one bug bite the whole week!!

My favorite part of the trip was the boat ride we took to a cool beach and some coral to do snorkeling. Glen's favorite part was relaxing by the pool. And we both loved the fireworks on the beach for the new year!

Here are some photos:

Getting ready for the beach like "I couldn't find SPF 250, so I guess this will have to do"

The harbor where we left from for the boat ride

Glen tanning responsibly

You know I had to try and get an artsy picture in here

Exploring a beach with lots of clay and rocks

I was worried he'd turn into a fish

Going for a swim in the ocean

Enjoying some bubbly while we waited for the fireworks

Fireworks at midnight

I'm ready for my close up ...

Trying to capture the sunset

We left Saturday night, and came back to a rainy Sao Paulo... a little sad, but happy to be back home.

Thanks for reading!
